Another series of country reports online: Austria, Israel, Norway and the US
Another series of the Insight country reports is available online. The focus of the annual update, compiled with the help of policy makers in the 31 member countries of EUN, is to present trends with regard to new technologies in school education. Reports from Austria, Norway and Israel, besides three special reports from the US (Arizona, Indiana and Wisconsin) are food for thought for the school year.

During the last year Insight provided 15 up-to-date country reports, divided according to their editing time in three groups: the first one including information and data from Belgium (Flemish community), Greece, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and UK (England); the second one comprising Denmark, Lithuania and Spain (Catalonia); and the third one, just published, focusing on Austria, Israel, Norway and the US (Arizona, Indiana and Wisconsin).

"eFit" Austria

Between 2000 and 2006, the Austrian Ministry of Education took an initiative of consolidating and funding the implementation of new media in education and culture: the "eFit Initiative” has quickly developed and become a huge success. Moreover, in the framework of the eContent initiative, teaching/learning software and e-learning materials are being developed and offered via provider structures as well as via independent subject and school servers.

Norway and its wide reform process

The use of digital technology in Norwegian education is shaped by the Government’s "Programme for Digital Literacy", whose ambitious target is to put Norway among the leading countries in development and pedagogical use of ICT in teaching and learning by 2008. In order to achieve this goal, a wide set of reforms have been put in place, such as the "Knowledge Promotion reform" and the Curriculum reform by which the use of ICT has been introduced as a basic skill in every subject.

The US, a special Insight guest

The reports from US, that don't belong to the EUN Partnership, have been made available thanks to the cooperation with the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) of the United States, which gathered information using the Insight country report model. CoSN is the US premier voice for K-12 education leaders who use technology strategically to improve teaching and learning. A special focus on the three US reports has been published on the Insight blog.
