Similar is the idea behind the ‘Innovative Didactics via web-learning’ initiative. It was a project in which teachers from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland and the Slovak Republic collaborated with a research team from the University of Twente in The Netherlands. The main purpose was to train teachers to use the Internet in their lessons.
The underlying model was to train groups of teachers who would then train other teachers with the aim to elaborate and disseminate their practice. The programme was supported by theoretical materials well as practical training Teachers were trained to develop assignments which required the use of the web. A Web Assignments Database was created to store the information which is available for the use of school subjects for different age/grade levels. Evaluation also took place which indicated a lot of enthusiasm by teachers. The approach proved to be a success, more than 2000 assignments have been developed, of which 300 are translated into English
